
Founding Master
Dokushô Villalba Roshi received the zen monk ordination in 1978 by the venerable master Taisen Deshimaru Roshi and in 1987 the transmission of the Dharma by his second master, the venerable Shuyu’iyah Narita Roshi. He is the founder and President of the Spanish Soto Zen Buddhist community and the founder and spiritual director of the temple Luz Serena.
He is the author of more than thirty books on zen Buddhism and Eastern spirituality. In between translations of classic texts, and personal work, he travels to Spain, Europe and Latin America giving seminars, conferences, and retreats of zen Buddhist meditation.
He resides habitually at the zen Temple Luz Serena, together with a community of residents, committed to the practice and teaching of zen Buddhism.
His teaching, simple and colloquial, has deeply impressed thousands of people who come to the temple to its seminars and conferences, seeking inner peace and spiritual inspiration.
Teachers
The Soto Zen Buddhist Community´s meditation teachers have been trained by master Dokushô Villalba among his oldest and most close disciples.
They are experienced practitioners who perform the task of coordinating centres of practice, introduce beginners to meditation and sustain the practice of Zen during retreats.
María del Mar López is disciple of master Dokushô Villalba, since 1995; instructor of zen meditation and Professor of Buddhist studies by the CBSZ, responsible for the Zen Centre of Zaragoza and Chairperson of the Zen Association of Zaragoza.
José Manuel Maceiras is disciple of master Dokushô Villalba since 1997; Head of the Zen Centre of Valencia; instructor of zen meditation. He awarded a degree in Buddhist studies by the CBSZ.
Kepa Fernández is disciple of master Dokushô Villalba since 1997; Head of the Zen Centre of Bilbao; instructor of zen meditation. He awarded a degree in Buddhist studies by the CBSZ.
Samuel Soriano is disciple of master Dokushô Villalba since 1999; Head of the Zen Centre of Alicante; instructor of zen meditation. He awarded a degree in Buddhist studies by the CBSZ.
Carmen Febles is disciple of master Dokushô Villalba since 2001; Instructor of zen meditation. She awarded a degree in Buddhist studies by the CBSZ. She resides in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Agustín Vázquez Caruncho is disciple of master Dokushô Villalba since 2008; Instructor of zen meditation. He awarded a degree in Buddhist studies by the CBSZ. He resides in Zaragoza.
